Social media character limits (2025)

Twitter / X: 280 characters for standard accounts. Twitter Blue/Premium gets up to 25,000.

Instagram: Captions up to 2,200 characters. Only ~125 show before the "more" break.

LinkedIn: Regular posts support 700 characters. LinkedIn articles have separate limits.

SMS: Standard GSM-7 messages support 160 characters. Messages over 160 are split into multiple segments billed separately.

Facebook: Posts allow up to 63,206 characters, though shorter posts perform significantly better.
